We are the champions

I’ve been inspired by the fantastic Community Health Champion programme and am currently doing the rounds of some of Sheffield’s biggest companies in order to get them to champion Sheffield Let’s Change4Life. If I’m going to make any sort of impact in the business community its essential to get big brands attached to it. In France their obesity reduction programme has been supported by Nestle, Orangina Schweppes and Mars. I’m looking to do something similar with Sheffield businesses and their initial reaction has been great.

It’s a win-win situation if businesses do get involved. Their brand is associated with a positive campaign, they are supported in helping their employees to be healthier and, as a result, their productivity should improve. Best of all, it will cost them nothing. What’s not to like?

Hi I'm Mark

I'm the HR & Operations Coordinator for the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce. My role is very varied - I work across the Chamber in a number of different departments, from coordinating internal procedures and policies to working on external contracts with businesses across Sheffield and South Yorkshire. I'll be engaging with local companies of all sizes using different initiatives to bring Sheffield - Let's Change4Life to business and beyond in all sorts of different ways.

I believe that Sheffield - Let's Change4Life is a great opportunity for the people of Sheffield to put into practice something that we all wish we could do more - staying healthy by eating better, exercising more and improving our work and life habits for the long term. Business has a major role to play in this as most of us spend the majority of our day in the workplace. The Chamber's role is to make that job easier by sharing best practice and new ideas across Sheffield.
