Local Area Walking Maps
Making Sheffield a walkable city
Have you used a walking map in your area? We are interested in hearing your experiences of using the maps and how this has influenced your level of walking.
Let us know by completing this quick questionnaire.
Evidence shows that being outdoors encourages people to be more active.
We have produced local area walking maps to encourage more adults, children and young people to walk to university / school/college/work rather than drive or be driven.
We want to see more people walking as a form of transport in Sheffield. One of the reasons frequently sited for doing no physical activity is the lack of time. If we can encourage people to build in physical activity as part of their daily life then we can begin to reverse the trend of inactivity.
By March 2011 all our local area walking maps will have been produced and will be distributed through: NHS, Sheffield City Council, both Universities and within schools in Sheffield where we have highlighted high car use for short distances. Local school children have helped design our school maps.
If you would like a hard copy of one of the maps or would like further information please get in touch. Enjoy Walking!
