The never ending cycle!

Been a bit quiet on here of late, but we all have to take holidays every now and again don’t we! Decided mine would be a bit of a bus man’s holiday of riding the off road coast to coast route through 3 beautiful national parks; that coupled with a spot of racing this weekend [...]

Beat Peat Winners

After some fierce competition and some very close racing the Beat Peat competition has come to a close.  The competition generated over 350 cycle journeys to and from school, with 245 virtual kilometres raced.  Brunswick school had the highest turnout; but which school is going to be getting a visit from the Downhill  Mountain Bike World Champion [...]

Quiet-ish Week

Well I guess there is no such thing as a quiet week here, its been a week  without much time in schools, with the majority of them participating in SATS this week. However come Friday that is all about to change; Howden House is about to become a pretty rare sight  almost until the summer holiday [...]

Rolling into the new term

The first week of term is normally a little quieter than normal for a Bike It Officer, with schools settling back into the routine after the holidays. So its been great to escape from the office and get into schools to start planning some exciting events for the summer term. With the better weather the focus [...]

Summer’s Coming

Feeling fresh and recharged after a bit of an Easter break, but now its back to it and back into the office. With lots of events coming up over the summer term theres lots to plan and not much opportunity to be out in the sunshine, but that should change soon. Congratulations o Hunters Bar [...]

Shelters and Shows

The spring term ended on a high and in some style. Over the term several schools have been getting cycle shelters, a fantastic way of making it easier for children to cycle to school. Lots of schools had received grants from Sustrans in order to make this possible; so last week we decided to celebrate [...]

Out and about

Lots has been going on in schools in the last week or so. With lots of school having a go at the Beat Peat competition. Hunters Bar set some blistering times and currently top the leader board overall, just ahead of Brunswick. No one is yet to topple the individual leaders from Halfway though and [...]

Time flies….

Another busy week done and another busy one to go. beat Peat is keeping Bike It busy in Sheffield. The fast times from Greystones which stood for a while have been smashed by Halfway. Going 12 seconds faster that the previous fastest time posting 1.35! Not only that but they no make up the top [...]

Bikes, Trains, no Automobiles

This week has been a busy one  as well as being a Beat Peat Sandwich. Greystones kicked of the compettion proper on monday, with several of the students setting blistering times and it had been rounded of with 28 pupils taking their turn at Meynell again with fast times and heaving lungs by the end [...]

The eye of the storm

Half term provided a much needed break after a manic few weeks (not to mention a bit of a respite from the weather too). A couple of days off provided a chance to get away and do some mountain biking (funny way to relax from a cycling job you may think). I also got a [...]
