Sheffield Breastfeeding Friendly Award
The Sheffield Breastfeeding Friendly Award recognises public places and workplaces which offer a good level of facilities and support for breastfeeding mothers and their families.
Find out about the Award.
Breastfeeding gives babies all the nutrients they need for the first six months of life and it continues to benefit your baby along with solid foods for many months. It also:
- helps to protect them from infection and other diseases
- reduces mum’s chances of getting some illnesses later in life
- helps mum and baby to get closer – physically and emotionally
What are the facts?
- Women who breastfeed get their figures back faster
- Bottle feeding does not give babies the same ingredients as breastmilk
- Breastmilk is easy for babies to absorb and is perfect food to help them grow and develop
- Infant formula milk doesn’t provide protection against infection and other diseases
