Sheffield Food Plan & Food Festival
Information for parents & families

Children eating healthy school mealsFor Sheffield to be a healthy city where everyone, children, families and the wider community have a healthy diet, a strong approach to food is needed. We also want to improve the environmental impact of the food Sheffield eats, as well as make the most of the local food being produced. This is why a Food Plan is being written for Sheffield so that we can join all these challenges up.

Parents, carers and grandparents are role models in terms of the food they eat, as well as their roles of buying and cooking food for others.

The food plan aims to:

  • Increase peoples knowledge of what constitutes healthy food
  • Help people access healthy, affordable and nutritious food
  • Improve the capacity to grow food in communities
  • Increase peoples knowledge of how to prepare and cook fresh and healthy meals
